Struggling Kaizer Chiefs Lose 4-0 to Young Africans
Nasreddine Nabi’s coaching regime got off to a rocky start as Kaizer Chiefs went head-to-head with Young Africans SC in their Toyota Cup friendly on Sunday afternoon, 28 July.
Playing at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Free State, it was clear that Nabi’s men were struggling to find their rhythm throughout the match, something which fans have come to expect over the years. As such, they were no match for their Tanzanian opponents, who capitalised on Amakhosi’s shortcomings.
Striker Prince Dube struck in the 25th minute to give Yanga a 1-0 lead. This was followed by a goal from teammate (and former Chiefs target) Stephane Aziz Ki in stoppage time of the first half.
Come the second half, Chiefs were still struggling with their form, while Young Africans continued to assert their dominance. Ultimately, goals from Clement Mzize and Aziz Ki resulted in a 4-0 victory for the Tanzanian outfit.
No doubt this humbling loss will give Nabi and his technical team plenty to re-evaluate as they attempt to improve the Glamour Boys’ fortunes ahead of the upcoming season.
